about

A particular thread of Jehanne’s songwriting taps into the rich store of English and Celtic folklore and legend, calling on key figures such as Fionn mac Cumhaill

(The Fosterer), Arthur the King and the Green Man (Green Jack). The legends (A Foot Above the Ground, The Rollright Stones) and spirits of place (Alport, River Man, Island of I, The Greenway) and season (The Corn King) as well as historical figures and moments (Edward, The Fields of Runnymede) also figure. Craft and rural traditions come in too (Smell of New Hay, Rock Clay & Sand, the Metal-Worker’s apprentice) and even a folk writer’s twist on the fox hunt (Song Hunt). Always the singer’s connection to landscape and nature is drawn together with that between soul and world, and between heart and heart (This Place).
